What is a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA)?
Energy consultants are not actually regulated by the state. To help ensure a professional level of competency the CABEC designed the CEA certification process towards those ends. A CEA’s working knowledge and understanding of the California Energy Efficiency Standards can therefore be trusted and used to verify compliance issues. By using a CEA (Certified Energy Analyst ) a building department, contractor, architect, or homeowner is assured of that consultants professional knowledge and skills.
Certified Energy Analysts are CABEC members who have demonstrated their mastery of the Residential and/or Non-residential California Energy Standards by performing the following steps:
- Have at least one year of experience performing energy compliance calculations.
- Pass the appropriate (Residential and/or Nonresidential) CEPE Exam.
- Participate in a Professional Practices Workshop (PPW), sponsored by CABEC.
- Attend at least six hours per year of continuing education training.
